Well, we graduated from UF (The University of Florida) in 2008 (most of us, at least). After leaving the halls (or atrium) of Weimer Hall, we're off to work in advertising, all across the country! What we're up to, and what we're in to - you'll find it here! Check often to find out about the Wizards of Weimer!

I couldn't resist.

Too bad this isn't sponsorable... it would probably get some major awareness if Adidas or Puma sponsored the clothes...

another look-alike...

Catherine Keener and Lauren [Ruff] Keener
...at least I think so
FYI: Catherine Keener was in The Forty-Year-Old Virgin, Lauren Ruff is one of those pre-Madonna jet-setting types never seems to stay in the same place for too long... oh, and she's a cunty salad.

Karma Police end Turf War

As you may already know, ESPN/Monday Night Football AstroTurf boards were placed on bus shelters and billboards here in NYC. I instantly fell in love with the campaign. But shortly after they were posted... they began to disappear. I will admit I told a fellow Wizard to steal the turf for his apartment... but it was gone before any attempt was made. It would be a great piece of creative advertising history.

Today ESPN's W+K team fought back with new paper posters seen below:

(click for a larger picture so you can read it)

W+K played the guilt trip card but I guarantee the thieves won't feel any guilt, but proud that their efforts were recognized and continue to brag about it.

Font "Georgia" is nice.

Hello fellow Gators,

Well my life is running away and I'm pretty much living the dream. Of course I can't help but always wonder what is next... I'm torn between Australia and The Peace Corp. That could change next week though.

Tip for the new comers:

Don't work in New Business- become a bad ass in your respective area and then be recruited to "pitch" new business. Otherwise you're just a grunt with a blackberry. But the worst is over and my new assignment is still a mystery.

While I was catching up on my WOW reading I saw this question:

When you're selling a freezer, what are you really selling? what ideas/emotions?

A couple of things:

A place to store dead bodies
A place to keep food fresh... longer.
A place to store memories... like the slice of cake you've had since your wedding day 45 years ago. That half of a hot-dog left over when you broke the world record. It preserves the things worth saving.

That was fun.

At any rate, I see a lot of Ogilvy quoting... and Julio he did write a great book. I'm still wondering how many years it will take to stick.

Lazy Sundaze

Sat on the couch all day. Karina inspired me to post a few videos I came across today.

Diesel ad(?)

Kim Jong Il propoganda video

Secret Service tackling a guy after accosting Reagan

Funny music video

Funny explanation of the aforementioned video

I hear you can get this fixed w/ a minor procedure now

And I have now spent almost all 12 hours I've been awake on the couch.

Jesus is my Friend

Hey everyone,

Just a quick post to let you know that while I haven't posted in God knows how long, I am still reading and thinking of you all. Fall semester is busier than I ever could've imagined...and I feel very disconnected with the world outside of UF.

For those of you in NYC, I'm coming up on November 12th. The flight is officially booked.

JFran and Julio, the rest of the e-board and I will be in SoFla October 3-5 for a Counting Crows/ Maroon 5 concert.

Still working on my trips to LA and Japan =)

Love you all. Here's a link that cheered me up today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-NOZU2iPA8

Another Eric Roller video

It's his stand-up comedy routine from this quarter that just ended:

I LOL'ed myself

Top Dog

At first I was going to go on a whole diatribe about how disappointed I have become about the current state of advertising ever since I started reading Ogilvy on Advertising. This mainly has to do with my opinion(which I've developed after listening to and meeting with "professionals", hanging out with other students at MAS, and just plain watching and reading a lot of new ads) that most modern creatives are either pompous wannabe-artists or drunken frat boys, and almost no one is worried about actually selling the clients' products. But I'll save that for a time when I'm not about to fall asleep. Instead I'm just linking you to an ad that our esteemed friend Eric Roller created, along with two other MAS students, and that won the Top Dog award for the best overall ad in the MAS summer quarter that just ended. It's for the Must Drink More Milk campaign that DDB Canada is doing for BC Dairy. Eric and his partners received $500 scholarships for being the TOP DOGS.
