Well, we graduated from UF (The University of Florida) in 2008 (most of us, at least). After leaving the halls (or atrium) of Weimer Hall, we're off to work in advertising, all across the country! What we're up to, and what we're in to - you'll find it here! Check often to find out about the Wizards of Weimer!

McDLT & a dancing, singing George Costanza

McDonald's commercials from the 80's debuting it's McDLT - a hambuger served with the hot hamburger on one side of the tray and the "cool" lettuce and tomatoes on the the other side so that the hot hamburger doesn't wilt and ruin the lettuce and tomato.... oooooh okay? Not sure how much research they did on how that affects a consumer's choice to purchase a hamburger (that being a challenge didn't even occur to me...), but nonetheless, this commercial is awesome. A dancing, singing Jason Alexander (skinny, too!).

Watch and enjoy:

CP+B intern auction

Those of you who are friends with Alex Bogusky on twitter probably know this, but anyway it's awesome... CP+B is auctioning off the services of their interns to their clients on eBay. Only the greats at CP+B could of this and execute.

The bidding is up to $1,525 and money goes towards the intern. Can I intern there?

A Commercial based on...A Widget!

Yep. Saw this Monday night when I was watching the basketball championship. Forget basing spots on SNL skits. Let's make a spot based entirely on a widget! Except, this was VERY, VERY WELL DONE.

Da na na na na.... Go Gators!

Shout-out to my good friend, super sister, and all around classy gal Deanna Lazzaroni (... and I guess while I'm at it - all my lovelies still at UF) for this:

Fletcher Martin has come up with a new and powerful campaign for the University of Florida. We all remember, and I'm sure love, the previous "Go Gator" campaign they did:

You won't find the current campaign on YouTube, but check out their Web site under the portfolio section to see the two new spots. In a word: amazing.

Also, to read more about the campaign and get some great insight, check out Deanna's blog: Satisfy the Craving. I'm so proud to call her little :)

Carnival Aquarium = amazing

Saw this when I was walking on Park Avenue to my friend's restaurant from Grand Central... At first, I didn't know exactly what is was except that it's for Carnival Cruise lines and pretty cool. Upon further research, I found that it's a sweet campaign for Carnival which feature interactive computer-animated "aquariums" on the sides of buildings that get high pedestrian traffic in 6 cities (Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, LA, New York and D.C.).

"As pedestrians walk by, the vibrant undersea universe reacts with plant life swaying, water and bubbles moving and fish darting around in response to the human motion. Signage invites passersby to dial a number on their cell phones to create their own, personalized fish.

By making various sounds into their phones, consumers can customize their fish and then, using their keypad, swim them around the tank. By steering the fish to food, the custom creatures continue to morph in shape and size and do a variety of other fun and surprising things.

The aquariums also feature a mechanism that enables people to come back later and, using the same cell phone, retrieve their customized fish. Once finished with the interaction, consumers receive a text message inviting them to visit carnival.com/funville for additional fun activities and information."

Red Bull Snowscrapers

An awesome event coming to NYC!!

Red Bull is sponsoring a snowboarding event called Red Bull Snowscrapers on Thursday February 5th at 6:00 at the East River Park (FDR and Houston). The event will feature 16 of the world's best snowboards (including Shaun White, Pat Moore, and Travis Rice) competing for $100,000. "Red Bull will create a towering 90-foot tall, state-of-the-art structure for top riders to own the iconic Manhattan skyline. The athletes will drop in from a nine-story structure before flying off the specially constructed kicker toward an immense 80-foot long hip. The innovative hip, built by world-renowned designers Frank Wells and Mike Bettera of Snow Park Technology, allows riders multiple angles of trajectory— frontside or backside, landing on either the right or left side of the massive 45-degree spine. Additionally, the ramp design will allow spectators to get up close and personal, giving fans an opportunity to experience the action first hand as the riders spin roughly four stories into the sky." (from snowboarding.transworld.net)

Check out the site: http://redbullsnowboarding.com/snowscrapers/ and the facebook event.

Also, on Saturday February 7th, New York Parks and Recreation will host Winter Jam with tons of cool events (70-foot long snow flume for sledding and a snowman making contest amongst others!) at East River Park.

Ram Challenge

Most of you have probably already seen/heard of this, but I think it's pretty badass. Dodge is putting their flagship truck to the ultimate test to challenge it against all odds. Feating four teams of "tough guys" (firefighters, contractors, military, and cowboys) against each other they have put the Ram up to 4 tests:
1. Front Loader - teams have to back into individual bays. Once there they have to operate a front loader in order to fill the bed of their truck
2. Culvert Trench - An impassable culvert trench blocks the way. Teams must empty the Ram's bed to fill the trench and then drive across.
3. Log Road - Teams have to race over 100 feet of uneven 14" diameter logs.
4. The Gauntlet - Two full-size trucks swing back and forth across the road. It's either going to be a test of the HEMI acceleration or a crash test.

They have four webisodes on the website for these four tests (Launching Pad, A Bridge Too Far, Earth Wind Fire, and Kaboom Town) and they are all pretty awesome.

The ads on TV are great and they made me want to go to the website which is set up in a really cool way. Very interactive and a great way to show the the features and benefits of the Ram. It's also a great use of integration through TV and internet.

All done by BBDO.... Check out the website: http://www.ramchallenge.com/

And, think... I'm a girl (who is not in the market for a fully-loaded pick-up truck.)

Such a treat

I love corporate microsites. If that's even what they are called. Like this or this or this or this or the Toyota prank which the name escapes me right now. I read somewhere that they don't really get a lot of traffic. But they aren't heavily promoted either.

Sometimes they are directly promoted:

And sometimes they just show the website at the end of the commercial/ end of the copy.

Either way, when they are done well, it is such a treat to find them.

And then there is this (for Sean)
